RECORD CLUB
Do you remember the first record you ever bought? Have a favourite album? Believe that music sounds better on vinyl? Well so do we!
If you enjoy sharing and talking about the music that means the most to you with other music fans, why not come along to one of our listening clubs. Each month we choose and listen to a classic album (played in full, on vinyl), before discussing the record together.
Meetings are facilitated by a member of our team, and after a short introduction we’ll drop the needle onto track one and savor the first side of the record. At the end of side one we can take a few minutes to share any initial reactions before turning the record over. When the album finishes, we’ll encourage people to grab a tea or a coffee before we reconvene to discuss the merits of the album whilst having a listen to any other relevant songs along the way.
Music is something that is close to all our hearts, and we positively encourage lively debate at our meetings, whilst keeping meetings relaxed, friendly and welcoming for everyone. Feel free to turn up on the day or drop us a line to find out more at info@reelconnections.co.uk or find details of our upcoming sessions below.
Volunteer with Record Club!
If you enjoy great music, meeting people and supporting your local community then why not volunteer to help facilitate our Record Clubs. Volunteer duties include welcoming people to the sessions and supporting the discussion with materials provided. Expenses will be reimbursed and volunteers will be given full training ahead of the sessions. Contact us at info@reelconnections.co.uk to find out more.

Wednesday 29 October at 5.30pm – a special Record Shop themed Bring Your Own event to tie in with our screening of The Vinyl Revival
If you love talking about the records that mean most to you with other music lovers, then join us for this special Bring Your Own evening celebrating the history and rebirth of the record shop! Feel free to bring along a selection of singles or album tracks from any genre or era (and this month we’re relaxing the usual American theme). All we ask is that they are records you found or discovered in a physical shop. Perhaps a cherished record that reminds you of a long gone vinyl emporium, or maybe a more recent discovery that you would like to share. If you would like to say a few words about your choices on the night that would be great, but if you’d prefer to just sit back and enjoy some excellent music, that’s fine too. This session is open to everyone who attends one of our Record Clubs.
The Vinyl Revival + Q&A
We are thrilled to be hosting a screening and panel discussion as part of this year’s Norwich Book Festival. The Vinyl Revival is a fascinating documentary that discusses the importance of the record shop and the renaissance in all things vinyl. Based on the book The Vinyl Revival and the Shops That Made It Happen by Graham Jones, we hear from passionate new record shop owners as well the established die-hards still going and thriving. The screening will be followed by a special panel discussion with local record shop owners and an audience Q&A.
Thursday 30 October from 7pm in The Auditorium at The Forum, Norwich. Find out more.

Record Club is supported by the National Lottery Community Fund through the Awards for All Fund, Norfolk Community Foundation through the Public Health Empowering Communities for Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, Norwich Freemen’s Charity, and in-kind support from Norfolk Library and Information Service and Norwich Theatre.
